- La lutte contre la prolifération de l’étoile de mer à couronne d’épines (Acanthaster planci) : espèce invasive qui menace les récifs coralliens en se nourrissant de leurs polypes. Inspiré d’une méthode australienne, l’hôtel mène des actions de contrôle par injections ciblées de vinaigre, avec un suivi photographique et vidéo.
- Le potager du Chef : un jardin d’herbes aromatiques et de légumes cultivés sur place, utilisé en cuisine et ouvert aux clients. Ces derniers participent à une expérience culinaire immersive : récolte, apprentissage des saveurs, atelier de cuisine, et repas convivial autour d’une grande table partagée.
Soutenir la communauté : écoles, sport et refuge animalier
LUX* Le Morne place également la communauté locale au cœur de ses actions : • Éducation et bien-être des enfants : partenariat de longue date avec l’école primaire Mont Carmel RCA à Chemin Grenier. Rénovation des infrastructures, bibliothèque modernisée, dons de livres, aire de jeux sécurisée, salles de classe repeintes, amélioration de l’éclairage et soutien médical/psychologique. Un programme d’aide alimentaire a également été mis en place pour les familles les plus vulnérables. • Soutien aux adolescentes de la SSS La Gaulette : accompagnement d’une équipe de football féminin avec mentorat et dotation en matériel. • Tropicat Lodge : un refuge inédit pour les chats errants créé au sein même de l’hôtel. En collaboration avec l’ONG Paws, il assure la stérilisation, les soins et l’adoption (locale et internationale) de ces animaux.

The environmental initiatives of the Circle of Care program are designed to both safeguard marine ecosystems and promote sustainable gastronomy.
Controlling the Crown-of-Thorns Starfish
The crown-of-thorns starfish (Acanthaster planci), an invasive species in the Indo-Pacific region, poses a major threat to coral reefs as it feeds on their polyps. To curb its proliferation, the hotel applies a method inspired by Australian studies: targeted vinegar injections, coupled with photo and video monitoring to assess progress.
The Chef’s Herb Garden
The resort has also created a thriving garden of aromatic herbs and vegetables. Beyond supplying the kitchen with fresh produce, the garden is at the heart of an immersive guest experience: from harvesting and learning about flavors to a hands-on cooking class, culminating in a convivial meal around a shared table.

Medical and psychological follow-ups are also provided, along with food aid for vulnerable families. • Girls’ Football Team at SSS La Gaulette: 25 teenage girls benefit from mentorship and access to sports equipment, fostering empowerment through sport. • Tropicat Lodge: An innovative shelter for stray cats located within the resort itself.
