Après avoir dirigé le Solana Beach, Ravidev (Ravi) Teelwah assume à partir de ce 1er mars 2023, le poste de General Manager du Preskil Island Resort, le fleuron du groupe Southern Cross Hotels. En fait, depuis novembre 2022, il supervisait les deux hôtels et cette nomination est « une juste reconnaissance de son professionnalisme, de son humilité et de son sens incontestable du service », déclare Fabio Meo, Chief Operating Officer du groupe. Des qualités que Ravidev a démontrées au sein du groupe depuis son arrivée au Solana Beach Mauritius en 2018 et plus précisément depuis qu’il a été nommé General Manager de l’hôtel en 2019, ajoute-t-il.
L'exemple de la persévérance
« Ravidev est l’exemple même de la persévérance et la passion qui caractérisent les employés du secteur du tourisme et de l’hôtellerie en particulier. Il est toujours à l’écoute du client mais aussi des membres de son équipe. Je suis convaincu que le Preskil Island Resort bénéficiera de son expertise acquise tant sur le plan local qu’à l’international. L’ensemble des employés du Southern Cross Hotels se joint à moi pour lui souhaiter plein de succès dans son nouveau challenge », affirme Fabio Meo.
Pour sa part, Ravi se déclare « heureux de la confiance que le groupe et en particulier le COO, Fabio Meo place en moi ». « C’est un homme qui a toujours cru en moi. À l’image du groupe, il est très humain et très abordable. Je dois dire que c’est vraiment l’ADN du groupe Southern Cross qui est petit de taille avec seulement trois établissements, mais grand de cœur. Ici c’est l’approche humaine qui prime avant tout. On reste toujours à l’écoute de nos différents membres d’équipe ».
Cet enfant de New Grove, qui a ensuite bougé à Bon Accueil a toujours eu la passion de l’hôtellerie. Après le collège, encouragé par ses camarades qui travaillaient déjà dans le secteur de l’hôtellerie, il entreprend des études à l’École Hôtelière Sir Gaëtan Duval. « Le tourisme me fascinait. Je voulais à travers la rencontre avec nos visiteurs avoir une exposition internationale tout en restant à Maurice ».
Pourtant, quelque temps après avoir débuté au Touessrok, il va avoir l’occasion de faire cette expérience au-delà de nos frontières à l’hôtel Raffles de Singapour. Il revient ensuite à Maurice au Constance Prince Maurice avant d’aller faire l’ouverture de Beau Rivage (aujourd’hui LUX* Belle Mare). « C’est le regretté Philippe Requin que j’avais connu au Touessrok qui m’a proposé de venir travailler dans ce nouvel hôtel. C’est un homme qui a beaucoup compté dans ma carrière ».
Le jeune Ravi va ensuite reprendre l’avion. D’abord, pour un séjour en Australie au Hyatt Melbourne avant d’aller en Tanzanie au Mount Meru. Entre les deux, il aura fait une parenthèse au LUX* Grand Gaube comme Food and Beverage Manager. L’expérience africaine est très réussie pour Ravi qui va d’abord être Executive Assistant Maneger (Food & Beverage) avant d’occuper le poste de Deputy Manager entre 2010 et 2018 quand il décide de rentrer au pays.
Recruté comme Resident Manager au Solana, il est promu l’année suivante General Manager, poste qu’il va occuper jusqu’à novembre 2022 quand il est appelé à superviser également le Preskil Island Resort.
Ravidev Teelwah takes over the management of the Preskil Island resort
After having managed the Solana Beach, Ravidev (Ravi) Teelwah assumes the position of General Manager of the Preskil Island Resort, the flagship of the Southern Cross Hotels group, as of March 1st 2023. In fact, since November 2022, he has been overseeing both hotels and this appointment is « a fair recognition of his professionalism, humility and unquestionable sense of service », says Fabio Meo, Chief Operating Officer of the group. Qualities that Ravidev has demonstrated within the group since he arrived at Solana Beach Mauritius in 2018 and more specifically since he was appointed General Manager of the hotel in 2019, he adds.

For his part, Ravi says he is "pleased with the trust that the group and in particular the COO, Fabio Meo, has placed in me". "He is a man who has always believed in me. Like the group, he is very human and very approachable. I have to say that this is the DNA of the Southern Cross group, which is small in size with only three establishments, but big in heart. Here it is the human approach that comes first. We always listen to our different team members.
This child of New Grove, who then moved to Bon Accueil, has always had a passion for the hotel business. After college, encouraged by his peers who were already working in the hotel industry, he began studying at the Sir Gaëtan Duval Hotel School. « Tourism fascinated me. I wanted to have international exposure by meeting our visitors while staying in Mauritius.
However, sometime after starting at the Touessrok, he will have the opportunity to have this experience beyond our borders at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. He then returned to Mauritius at the Constance Prince Maurice before opening the Beau Rivage (now LUX* Belle Mare). « It was the late Philippe Requin, whom I had known at the Touessrok, who suggested that I come and work at this new hotel. He is a man who counted a lot in my career ».
The young Ravi will then take the plane again. First, for a stay in Australia at the Hyatt Melbourne before going to Tanzania at Mount Meru. Between the two, he will have taken a break at the LUX* Grand Gaube as Food and Beverage Manager. The African experience is very successful for Ravi who will firstly be Executive Assistant Manager (Food & Beverage) before taking the position of Deputy Manager between 2010 before holding the position of Deputy Manager between 2010 and 2018 when he decided to return to Mauritius.
Recruited as Resident Manager at Solana, he was promoted the following year to General Manager, a position he would hold until November 2022 when he was also called upon to oversee the Preskil Island Resort.
