L’artiste plasticienne et éducatrice artistique mauricienne Daniella Eole a récemment représenté Maurice lors du Hatyai Recover International Artists Camp 2026, un événement artistique international organisé du 5 au 8 mars 2026 à Hatyai, en Thaïlande, avant de se poursuivre les 9 et 10 mars sur l’île de Libong, dans la province de Trang. L’artiste mauricienne Lakshmita Jeeta a également pris part à cette expérience riche en échanges culturels et artistiques.
Cette résidence internationale a réuni des artistes venus de nombreux pays autour d’expositions, d’ateliers, de performances musicales, d’interventions artistiques en direct et de rencontres favorisant le dialogue interculturel. Placé sous le signe de la créativité, de la résilience et du partage, l’événement a permis aux participants de tisser des liens humains à travers le langage universel de l’art.
Une œuvre inspirée par la résilience et le renouveau
La participation des artistes mauriciennes a été rendue possible grâce à l’invitation et au soutien des artistes réunionnais Charly Lesquelin et Agnes Grondin, qui ont facilité leur intégration à ce projet international. L’événement était organisé par Subin Muangchan et Maneerat Srikampat de la Thailand Artistic Association, dont l’engagement et l’accueil ont largement contribué au succès de cette résidence.
Durant son séjour, Daniella Eole a réalisé une œuvre de grand format aux textures riches et expressives, inspirée par l’esprit du Hatyai Recover. À travers un travail de couleurs vibrantes et de matières, l’artiste a exploré les thèmes de la guérison, de la résilience et du renouveau. Cette création est aujourd’hui exposée à l’Art Village Gallery en Thaïlande, constituant une étape importante dans le parcours international de l’artiste mauricienne.
L’art comme pont entre les cultures
Au-delà de sa création personnelle, Daniella Eole s’est également investie dans plusieurs projets communautaires sur l’île de Libong. Aux côtés d’autres artistes, elle a participé à la transformation de grands pots décoratifs et de pneus recyclés en œuvres colorées inspirées des couchers de soleil spectaculaires et des cocotiers emblématiques de l’île.
Grâce à des compositions lumineuses et à une palette tropicale, ces réalisations ont insufflé une nouvelle énergie artistique aux espaces communautaires tout en mettant en valeur la beauté naturelle et l’atmosphère paisible de Libong.
Reconnue pour sa pratique du finger painting et pour des œuvres fortement marquées par l’émotion, Daniella Eole a également animé des ateliers et partagé ses techniques avec les participants ainsi qu’avec des jeunes de la région. Ces moments de transmission ont encouragé la créativité, la liberté d’expression et la confiance artistique au-delà des barrières linguistiques et culturelles.
Revenant sur cette expérience, l’artiste confie : « Ce qui avait commencé comme une rencontre internationale d’artistes est devenu une magnifique amitié artistique fondée sur la créativité, l’humanité et un art qui dépasse les frontières. »
La présence de Daniella Eole et de Lakshmita Jeeta à cette résidence internationale témoigne du rayonnement croissant des artistes mauriciens sur la scène mondiale. Elle rappelle également le rôle essentiel de l’art comme vecteur de dialogue, de compréhension mutuelle et de rapprochement entre les peuples.
Mauritian Art Takes Centre Stage in Thailand Through Daniella Eole
Mauritian visual artist and art educator Daniella Eole recently represented Mauritius at the Hatyai Recover International Artists Camp 2026, an international artistic gathering held from 5 to 8 March 2026 in Hatyai, Thailand, followed by cultural and artistic activities on Libong Island, Trang Province, on 9 and 10 March. Fellow Mauritian artist Lakshmita Jeeta also participated in the event, contributing to a vibrant programme of artistic exchanges.
The residency brought together artists from numerous countries through exhibitions, workshops, live artistic interventions, musical performances and cultural encounters. Focused on creativity, resilience and human connection, the event provided a unique platform for artists to engage in meaningful exchanges while celebrating the universal language of art.
An Artwork Inspired by Resilience and Renewal
The participation of the Mauritian artists was made possible through the invitation and support of Reunion Island artists Charly Lesquelin and Agnes Grondin, who helped connect them to the project. The event was organised by Subin Muangchan and Maneerat Srikampat of the Thailand Artistic Association, whose commitment and hospitality contributed significantly to the success of the residency.
During the programme, Daniella Eole created a large-scale textured artwork inspired by the spirit of Hatyai Recover. Through expressive colours and layered textures, the piece explores themes of healing, resilience and renewal. The artwork is now exhibited at the Art Village Gallery in Thailand, marking an important international milestone in the artist’s career.
Art as a Bridge Between Cultures
Beyond her personal creation, Daniella Eole also took part in community art projects on Libong Island. Together with fellow artists, she helped transform large decorative pots and recycled tyres into vibrant artworks inspired by the island’s spectacular sunsets and iconic coconut trees.
Through tropical colours, luminous reflections and expressive compositions, these installations brought new artistic energy to community spaces while celebrating the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere of the island.
Known for her expressive finger-painting technique and emotionally driven artworks, Daniella Eole also shared her artistic methods through workshops and creative exchanges with participants and young people. These sessions encouraged creativity, self-expression and artistic freedom beyond language and cultural barriers.
Reflecting on the experience, she said: “What began as an international gathering of artists became a beautiful artistic friendship connected through creativity, humanity and art beyond borders.”
The participation of Daniella Eole and Lakshmita Jeeta highlights the growing presence of Mauritian artists on the international art scene and reinforces the power of art as a universal language capable of bringing together cultures, communities and people from around the world.
