Grâce à la communauté golfique qui a répondu encore une fois présent SUNCARE Charity Golf Competition, la sixième édition qui s’est tenue le samedi 17 septembre 2022 à l’île aux Cerfs Golf Club, a permis de recueillir Rs 2,1 millions. Cet évènement organisé par Sun Resorts, était au profit pour des enfants atteints de cancer. Une centaine de golfeurs avaient répondu présents.
L’argent sera versé au compte du Sun Children Cancer Fund, qui finance l’unité pédiatrique de cancer à l’hôpital Victoria à Candos. Cette année, ces fonds serviront principalement à la remise en état du bâtiment et de son toit. La SUNCARE Charity Golf Competition s’est déroulée sur 18 trous en formule scramble en équipe de 4. L’équipe gagnante était composée de Yanesh Atmaram, Sadeo Chunivan, Lallsingh Damree et Kissen Sookaram avec 46 points.
Une vente aux enchères avec de fabuleux lots a également eu lieu grâce aux sponsors et partenaires qui nous suivent chaque année. Les dotations pour la compétition ainsi que celles de cette vente ont permis de récolter la somme de Rs 2.1 millions. Créé en 2008, le Sun Children Cancer Fund a réalisé bon nombre d’actions afin de soulager les maux dont souffrent ces enfants, mais aussi de leur apporter tout le soutien nécessaire durant leur combat contre la maladie. Ainsi, en partenariat avec l’hôpital de Candos, le Sun Children Cancer Fund a financé la construction d’une salle toute équipée pour le traitement des enfants cancéreux (Cancer Ward for Children). Il s’agit encore aujourd’hui de la seule salle d’hôpital de L’île Maurice uniquement dédiée aux enfants atteints de cancer.
Charity Golf Competition: Sun Resorts raises Rs 2.1 million for children with cancer
Thanks to the golfing community who once again responded to the SUNCARE Charity Golf Competition, the sixth edition of which was held on Saturday 17 September 2022 at Ile aux Cerfs Golf Club, raised Rs 2.1 million. This event, organised by Sun Resorts, was for the benefit of children with cancer. About 100 golfers attended the event.
The money will be donated to the Sun Children Cancer Fund, which finances the paediatric cancer unit at the Victoria Hospital in Candos. This year, the funds will be used primarily to refurbish the building and its roof. The SUNCARE Charity Golf Competition was played over 18 holes in a scramble format in teams of 4. The winning team was composed of Yanesh Atmaram, Sadeo Chunivan, Lallsingh Damree and Kissen Sookaram with 46 points.
An auction with fabulous prizes was also held thanks to the sponsors and partners who follow us every year. The prize money for the competition and the auction raised a total of Rs 2.1 million. In partnership with Candos Hospital, the Sun Children Cancer Fund financed the construction of a fully equipped ward for the treatment of children with cancer (Cancer Ward for Children). It is still the only hospital ward in Mauritius dedicated solely to children with cancer.
