Vivre vegan à Long Beach

Veganer Wandel at Sunlife: a delicious collaboration based on plant-based ingredients

Linn Behner et Kevin Leeder, the influential duo behind the German project Veganer Wandel, recently visited Long Beach Hotel as part of their collaboration with the Sunlife group. On the agenda: culinary exchanges, cooking demos, and a deep dive into the flavours of Mauritius. We met two passionate advocates for a more balanced, pressure-free approach to eating.

A Committed Collaboration with Sunlife

« Sunlife invited us to create a signature dish from our recipes for their restaurants. We came to Mauritius to work closely with the chefs and share our 100% plant-based culinary philosophy, » explain Kevin and Linn. Together, they experimented with recipes, suggested alternatives, and contributed to expanding the vegan offerings across Sunlife hotels. Discover Sunlife

The Origins of Veganer Wandel

The project emerged naturally. Originally omnivores, Kevin and Linn gradually transitioned their diet. « I met vegan friends and started cooking plant-based for fun. Kevin, who loves filming, began documenting everything. That’s how Veganer Wandel was born. »

Their goal? « To inspire people to eat more plant-based. You don’t have to go 100% vegan overnight. Try one day a week — it already makes a difference. »

An Inclusive and Guilt-Free Philosophy

This duo doesn’t preach or shame. « We don’t judge. We simply want to show that plant-based cooking is possible, accessible, and above all, delicious. »

This is also the spirit of their book The Art of Food, which features simple recipes using easy-to-find ingredients, without processed products. Follow them on Instagram

Sport and Nutrition: Plant-Based for Peak Performance

« We work out every day. And yes, you can be very active on a plant-based diet. You just need to combine the right foods: legumes + grains, like rice and beans. »

Their recipes are rich in protein and tailored to meet the needs of active lifestyles.

Visual Appeal: A Key Ingredient

« Many people think vegan food is bland or boring. But if a dish looks beautiful, people want to try it. Visual appeal matters. »

Their signature dish? Burgers. « We reinvent them in many ways: chickpeas, red cabbage, pumpkin… even skeptics are tempted by a tasty-looking burger. »

A Mauritian Inspiration

During their visit, Kevin and Linn fell in love with the Mauritian dal puri. « I had tried it back in Germany, but here, it’s on another level! We love the homemade bread, lentils, and sweet chutney. We’re planning a dal puri Veganer Wandel version. »

Living Vegan at Long Beach

« Absolutely possible! The buffet includes vegan-friendly options. And on request, the chefs created custom vegan dishes. Often, it’s as simple as swapping fish for tofu. »

A Sustainable Food Vision

For them, reducing animal consumption is urgent. « We’re not saying stop eating meat entirely. But consumption has gone too far, especially in Europe. It’s time to rebalance with more plants. »

They also highlight tax discrepancies: « In Germany, plant-based milk is taxed higher than animal milk. That needs to change. »

Tips for Getting Started

« Go slow. One vegan meal a week, then two… Take your time to adopt new habits. No need for rare ingredients. A small pantry list is enough to cook a whole book of recipes! »

In Conclusion

« We want to restore a positive image of veganism: accessible, tasty, and fun. Not dogmatic. It’s about opening up new possibilities. »
