Dans le cadre de son engagement en faveur des enfants vulnérables et de l’éducation inclusive, le Sunlife Children Cancer Trust a remis une machine Perkins Brailler Classic à Nawshabah, une jeune patiente de 13 ans actuellement en traitement pour une leucémie à l’unité oncologique de l’hôpital Victoria.
Touchée également par une perte de la vue, Nawshabah poursuit malgré tout sa scolarité avec courage à la Louis Lagesse Trust Special School, une école spécialisée. Grâce à cette machine à écrire en braille, elle pourra continuer à apprendre en toute autonomie, à développer ses compétences et à s’épanouir, dans le respect de sa dignité.
Ce dispositif reste à sa disposition aussi longtemps qu’elle en aura besoin.

Depuis sa création en 2008, le Sunlife Children Cancer Trust a investi plus de 10 millions de roupies, apportant un soutien à plus de 100 familles. Ces fonds proviennent d’événements caritatifs organisés par Sunlife. Pendant la pandémie, 1 million de roupies a notamment permis de distribuer des tablettes aux enfants hospitalisés, afin qu’ils puissent poursuivre leur scolarité malgré leur hospitalisation.
Sunlife Children Cancer: donation of a Braille typewriter to a young patient
As part of its ongoing commitment to support vulnerable children and promote inclusive education, the Sunlife Children Cancer Trust is proud to donate a Perkins Brailler Classic machine to Nawshabah, a 13-year-old patient currently undergoing leukemia treatment at the Cancer Ward of Victoria Hospital.
In addition to her illness, Nawshabah sadly lost her sight. Despite these hardships, she continues her education at the Louis Lagesse Trust Special School, where access to adapted learning tools is essential. This Braille typewriter will allow her to pursue her studies with dignity and autonomy, helping her develop her literacy and learning skills.
Sunlife is placing this special machine at Nawshabah’s full disposal for as long as she needs it. By ensuring access to education, Sunlife supports Nawshabah’s immediate development while creating long-term opportunities for other children facing similar challenges.

Since 2008, the Trust has invested over MUR 10 million, supporting more than 100 families. These funds were raised through Sunlife’s charitable events. During the Covid pandemic, MUR 1 million was allocated to educational support by donating tablets to hospitalized children so they could continue their lessons.
