La beauté de l’île Maurice est présente dans notre quotidien à chaque détour de nos pérégrinations. On la connaît moins vue d’en haut. Le photographe Alexandre Lassémillante nous propose de la découvrir à travers l’exposition photo intitulée “L’Île Maurice Vue Du Ciel” qui se tient au Sugar Beach jusqu’au 15 février. À travers son objectif, l’artiste capture les paysages, les côtes et les repères culturels de l’île d’un point de vue unique. La vue aérienne offre un panorama à couper le souffle, dévoilant la toile complexe du terrain et des merveilles naturelles de notre île.
Alexandre Lassémillante, 34 ans, habite Tamarin. Ayant fait des études de cinéma en Europe et à New York, il s’est toutefois toujours intéressé à la photographie. De retour à Maurice, il cherche à faire une photo de l’océan avec une image très précise en tête mais sans succès car les drones ne sont pas encore disponibles au public au niveau international.
En 2014 il rejoint SAR production et c’est là-bas qu’il apprend à manier le drone de sorte à pouvoir capturer des photos de vues aériennes. « Avec l’avènement du drone, j’ai pu enfin mettre en image ce que j’avais en tête ».
Selon lui, « l’exposition “L’Île Maurice Vue Du Ciel” célèbre l’art de la photographie aérienne, présentant l’île Maurice d’une manière qui dévoile sa véritable splendeur et met en lumière les détails invisibles qui échappent souvent à notre regard quotidien ».

« L’Île Maurice Vue Du Ciel » by Alexandre Lassémillante at Sugar Beach
The beauty of Mauritius is present in our daily lives at every turn of our travels. We know it less from above. Photographer Alexandre Lassémillante invites us to discover it through his photo exhibition entitled « L’Île Maurice Vue Du Ciel » (Mauritius from Above), which is on show at Sugar Beach until 15 February. Through his lens, the artist captures the island’s landscapes, coastlines and cultural landmarks from a unique perspective. The aerial view offers a breathtaking panorama, revealing the intricate web of terrain and natural wonders of our island.
Alexandre Lassémillante, 34, lives in Tamarin. He studied film in Europe and New York but has always been interested in photography. Back in Mauritius, he tried to take a photo of the ocean with a very precise image in mind, but without success because drones were not yet available to the public internationally.
In 2014 he joined SAR production and it was there that he learned how to handle the drone so that he could capture aerial view photos. « With the advent of the drone, I was finally able to put into images what I had in mind ».
According to him, the exhibition ‘Mauritius From Above’ celebrates the art of aerial photography, presenting Mauritius in a way that reveals its true splendour and highlights the invisible details that often escape our everyday gaze ».
