Le 17 août dernier, le Preskil Island Resort s’est transformé en terrain de jeu pour la première édition du Red Bull Wind Riders. Fruit d’une collaboration réussie entre Red Bull Mauritius, la Specialised Kiteboarding School et le Preskil Island Resort, cet événement a réuni 66 athlètes de kitesurf et de wing foil, tout en offrant un spectacle mémorable aux nombreux spectateurs présents. Avec une organisation irréprochable et des conditions météorologiques idéales, cette première édition semble s’être suffisamment démarquée pour s’affirmer comme un rendez-vous incontournable à l’avenir.
Le Preskil Island Resort, toujours engagé à promouvoir les sports nautiques et notamment ceux de glisse, a brillamment relevé le défi de devenir le théâtre de cette compétition inédite. L’événement a été marqué par une ambiance électrique, avec des non-résidents et des accompagnateurs se joignant aux spectateurs pour encourager les riders. Pour cette première édition, la compétition a eu l’honneur d’accueillir Jean de Falbaire, ambassadeur de kite fraîchement revenu des Jeux Olympiques en France, dont la présence a enrichi l’expérience en apportant des échanges et des perspectives uniques.
Les diverses épreuves de kitesurf et de wing foil ont permis aux participants de démontrer leur talent lors de sessions d’expression freestyle, organisées devant le Specialised Kiteboarding Center. Les résultats ont reflété l’enthousiasme et le niveau élevé des compétiteurs. Dans la catégorie kitesurf hommes, Drany Clair a pris la première place, suivi d’Aaron Albert et Alan Ricaud. Chez les femmes, Sunniva Bonieux s’est imposée, devant Cécile Yong et Aurélie Fleuriau-Château. En wing foil, JP Valesa a remporté la victoire chez les hommes, avec Rémi Delahaye et Gary Cromie complétant le podium. Pour les femmes, Stephani Romann s’est distinguée en première position, suivie de Brenda Maistre et Varvara Kazbanova.
Le Red Bull Wind Riders a également bénéficié du soutien de sponsors tels que TribEvent, Duotone, Tou Korek Surf Shop et Phoenix Beverages, qui ont contribué à l’implantation réussie de l’événement sur l’île. De son côté, le Preskil Island Resort continue de démontrer un intérêt profond ainsi qu’un enthousiasme intarissable pour le kitesurf et le wing foil, offrant depuis un certain temps des formations et des expériences en la matière en collaboration avec la Specialised Kiteboarding School. Cette compétition a ainsi permis de mettre en lumière ces pratiques riches en adrénaline, tout en soulignant le cadre idéal de l’hôtel pour accueillir ce type d’événement.
Preskil Island Resort: a remarkable success for the first edition of the Red Bull Wind Riders
On 17 August, the Preskil Island Resort was transformed into a playground for the first edition of the Red Bull Wind Riders. The fruit of a successful collaboration between Red Bull Mauritius, the Specialised Kiteboarding School and the Preskil Island Resort, the event brought together 66 kitesurfing and wing-foiling athletes. It provided a memorable spectacle for the many spectators in attendance. With impeccable organisation and ideal weather conditions, this first edition seems to have set itself apart sufficiently to establish itself as a not-to-be-missed event in the future.
Preskil Island Resort, which has always been committed to promoting water sports, particularly board sports, rose brilliantly to become the venue for this ground-breaking competition. The event was marked by an electric atmosphere, with non-residents and accompanying persons joining the spectators to cheer on the riders. For this first edition, the competition was honoured to welcome Jean de Falbaire, a kite ambassador fresh back from the Olympic Games in France, whose presence enriched the experience by bringing unique exchanges and perspectives.
The various kitesurfing and wing foil events gave participants the chance to showcase their talent in freestyle expression sessions held in front of the Specialised Kiteboarding Center. The results reflected the enthusiasm and high standards of the competitors. In the men's kiteboarding category, Drany Clair took first place, followed by Aaron Albert and Alan Ricaud. In the women's category, Sunniva Bonieux won, ahead of Cécile Yong and Aurélie Fleuriau-Château. In wing foil, JP Valesa won the men's race, with Rémi Delahaye and Gary Cromie completing the podium. For the women, Stephani Romann came out on top, followed by Brenda Maistre and Varvara Kazbanova.
