Vincent Comarmond : making passion for the hotel business the driving force behind a success story

Vincent Comarmond’s international experience and the inherited love of hospitality have made him a true hotel expert to whom one could easily entrust the management of one’s establishment. Born into a family closely linked to the hotel industry, with his father holding the position of Resident Manager at the Saint Géran, Vincent was introduced to the fascinating world of hospitality at an early age. After years of lending his vision to a multitude of luxury establishments, the expert in hotel opening now holds the position of General Manager at Ocean’s Creek.

Vincent took his first steps in the hotel industry at the Saint-Géran, where he assisted the various teams with their tasks during the school holidays. This early immersion into the world of the hotel industry quickly rooted him on this path, given that as his first professional experience in 1996, he chose to do a work placement at Coco Beach, which had just opened under the management of his father. From reception to service, via internal control, Vincent explains that after completing his six-month apprenticeship, a career in the hotel industry became a certainty.

Vincent flew to Germany in January 1997 for a year's study in Bremen. "Apart from the linguistic appeal of learning a third language, Germany represented a major opportunity for me. At that time, the German clientele was starting to grow in Mauritius, and under my father's advice, I quickly understood the strategic importance of mastering the German language to position myself favourably in this rapidly expanding sector", explains Vincent. After spending four months practising his German, he joined the Park Hotel Bremen for a second work placement at the restaurant.

Pursuing his insatiable thirst for knowledge and improvement, Vincent then undertook four years of study in Switzerland. His adventure led him to the famous President Wilson Hotel in Geneva, where he started at the bar and the restaurant. Over the years, he has immersed himself in all facets of the hotel industry, exploring every job related to cooking, service, and management, to perfect his overall understanding of this often-demanding sector. « After the second year at President Wilson, I was in the kitchen with teachers and students giving lessons. Then the third year – it was at the time of 11th September (2001) – it became quite difficult to get other opportunities. So, I decided to return to Mauritius, where I had the opportunity to explore room service at the Royal Palm », he points out.

Vincent then went abroad again, working in prestigious establishments in Thailand and Hong Kong before returning to Mauritius as F&B Manager at the Voile d’Or hotel, launched by Phillipe Requin, and after at the Hilton. After some rewarding detours at Anahita, Le Méridien and Preskil Island Resort, Vincent Comarmond finally joined Ocean’s Creek as General Manager, bringing his unrivalled expertise and an ever-consuming passion. His objective is clear: develop and make Ocean’s Creek evolve towards a must-visit destination, offering an exceptional experience to all visitors.
