Le Sugar Beach annonce la première édition de la Sugar Beach International Junior Croquet Cup, qui se tiendra le 15 mars 2026 à l’île Maurice. Pensé comme un événement sportif et convivial, ce tournoi s’adresse aux enfants et vise à leur faire découvrir le croquet de manière ludique, accessible et adaptée aux plus jeunes.
Dans cette perspective, une journée de détection et d’initiation gratuite est organisée le samedi 17 janvier 2026, au Sugar Beach. Ouverte à tous les enfants, cette journée permettra de s’initier aux bases du croquet dans un cadre bienveillant et stimulant.

Une marraine d’exception : Jenny Clarke
Cette première édition junior sera placée sous le parrainage de Jenny Clarke, double vainqueure des deux dernières éditions de la Sugar Beach International Croquet Cup à Maurice. Joueuse de renommée internationale, elle a découvert le croquet dans les années 1990 alors qu’elle poursuivait son doctorat à l’Université d’Oxford, au Royaume-Uni.
Membre à vie de la Canterbury Croquet Association et du United Croquet Club, Jenny Clarke pratique aussi bien l’Association Croquet (AC) que le Golf Croquet (GC). Championne du monde féminine AC en 2012, elle a représenté la Nouvelle-Zélande pendant de nombreuses années au sein des équipes nationales AC et GC. Son palmarès comprend de nombreux titres en Nouvelle-Zélande et au Royaume-Uni, ainsi que trois titres majeurs en simple aux Australian Open (2010, 2018 et 2019).
À Maurice, elle partagera sa passion avec les jeunes participants, en leur faisant découvrir ce sport à travers une approche élégante, pédagogique et encourageante.
Un sport aux multiples bienfaits pour les enfants
Le tournoi accueillera douze enfants (filles et garçons) et offrira bien plus qu’une simple expérience sportive. Le croquet favorise la création de liens et l’esprit d’équipe, tout en contribuant au développement global de l’enfant.
Les couleurs, formes et matières des équipements (maillets, boules, arceaux, piquets) stimulent l’éveil sensoriel, tandis que le jeu renforce la coordination œil-main, le sens de l’orientation dans l’espace et la compréhension des règles collectives.

Sugar Beach International Junior Croquet Cup : detection day on 17 January 2026
Sugar Beach is pleased to announce the first edition of the Sugar Beach International Junior Croquet Cup, to be held on 15 March 2026 in Mauritius. Designed as a sporting and friendly event for children, the tournament aims to introduce young participants to croquet in a simple, enjoyable and age-appropriate way.
As a lead-up to the event, a free talent detection and initiation day will take place on Saturday 17 January 2026, at Sugar Beach. Open to all children, this session will offer an opportunity to discover the basics of croquet in a welcoming and inspiring environment.

An exceptional patron: Jenny Clarke
This inaugural junior edition will be held under the patronage of Jenny Clarke, winner of the last two editions of the Sugar Beach International Croquet Cup in Mauritius. A renowned international player, she began playing croquet in the 1990s while completing her PhD at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
A lifetime member of the Canterbury Croquet Association and the United Croquet Club, Jenny Clarke competes in both Association Croquet (AC) and Golf Croquet (GC). She was crowned Women’s AC World Champion in 2012 and represented New Zealand for many years in both AC and GC test teams. Her impressive career includes numerous open and women’s titles in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, as well as three singles titles at the Australian Open in 2010, 2018 and 2019.
In Mauritius, she will share her passion with young players, introducing them to the sport through an elegant, accessible and encouraging approach.
A sport with multiple benefits for children
The tournament will welcome twelve children (boys and girls) and offers much more than a sporting experience. Croquet encourages social interaction and teamwork, while supporting children’s overall development.
The colours, shapes and materials of the equipment (mallets, balls, hoops and pegs) stimulate sensory awareness, while the game helps develop hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness and an understanding of shared rules.
