À l’occasion de son 250e anniversaire, le Domaine de Labourdonnais, fondé en 1774, lance une initiative qui allie art, culture et patrimoine pour célébrer ce jalon majeur de son histoire. Ce projet participatif et inclusif a rassemblé le 1er octobre dernier la communauté autour d’une fresque unique, réalisée par l’artiste mauricien Brian Lamoureux, désormais installée fièrement dans les jardins du Domaine.
Dans une démarche visant à fédérer la communauté environnante et de mettre en valeur la richesse culturelle de notre région, le Domaine de Labourdonnais a invité les employés du groupe DDL ainsi que les élèves de l’École du Nord et de La Courte Échelle à participer à la création de cette œuvre collective. C’est donc sous un ciel radieux que des « artistes en herbe » ont apporté leur touche créative à une structure en 3D illustrant les « 250 ans » du Domaine. Guidés par Brian Lamoureux, les écoliers et les employés de DDL ont participé à l’élaboration d’une fresque à travers la peinture.
« Le Domaine de Labourdonnais a souhaité permettre à sa communauté de célébrer ensemble ce jalon historique. Cette fresque participative va au-delà d’une simple œuvre d’art ; elle symbolise l’engagement du Domaine envers la communauté environnante, y compris les écoles voisines. À travers cette initiative créative, le Domaine souhaite montrer que l’art est un puissant vecteur de rassemblement, capable de fédérer les générations autour d’un héritage commun. », a déclaré Jean-François Lagesse, Managing Director du groupe DDL. « Chaque détail de l’œuvre a été soigneusement conçu pour refléter les éléments emblématiques du domaine », poursuit-il.
L’année 2024 marque un tournant clé pour le Domaine de Labourdonnais, et cette fresque est l’une des nombreuses initiatives qui ponctueront cette année festive. À travers ce projet artistique, le Domaine réaffirme son rôle de gardien d’un patrimoine riche de 250 ans d’histoire tout en ouvrant ses portes à de nouvelles formes d’expression culturelle.

To mark its 250th anniversary, the Domaine de Labourdonnais, founded in 1774, is launching an initiative that combines art, culture and heritage to celebrate this major milestone in its history. On 1 October, this participatory and inclusive project brought the community together around a unique fresco created by Mauritian artist Brian Lamoureux, now proudly installed in the Domaine’s gardens.
To unite the surrounding community and showcase the cultural richness of our region, Domaine de Labourdonnais invited employees of the DDL group as well as students from École du Nord and La Courte Échelle to take part in the creation of this collective work. Under a radiant sky, budding artists put their creative touch to a 3D structure illustrating the 250 years of the estate. Guided by Brian Lamoureux, the schoolchildren and DDL employees took part in creating a fresco using paint.

This participatory fresco goes beyond a simple work of art; it symbolises the Domaine’s commitment to the surrounding community, including neighbouring schools. Through this creative initiative, the Domaine wishes to show that art is a powerful vehicle for bringing people together, capable of uniting generations around a common heritage,’ said Jean-François Lagesse, Managing Director of the DDL Group. ‘Every detail of the work has been carefully designed to reflect the emblematic elements of the estate,’ he continued.

Through this artistic project, the estate is reaffirming its role as guardian of a heritage rich in 250 years of history, while opening its doors to new forms of cultural expression.
