Le lagon de Mahébourg au rythme d’un spectacle hallucinant du 28 juillet au 3 août avec un ballet de Wing Foil qui a réuni quelques uns des grands spécialistes mondiaux de cette nouvelle discipline. L’initiative est revenue encore une fois au Preskil Island Resort dont l’engagement pour les sports de voiles est bien connu.
Lors de la soirée de lancement, le directeur de l’hôtel, Vincent Commarmond n’a pas manqué d’ailleurs de souligner qu’« avec le plus grand lagon de l’île et des vents très favorables en hiver, le Preskil peut se targuer d’avoir le plus beau spot pour les sports de voile ».
« La pandémie nous a permis de réaliser, entre autres choses, l’importance du sport dans la vie. Elle nous a aussi donné l’occasion de voir que Maurice possède une mer extraordinaire pour les sports nautiques », a-t-il ajouté.
De son côté, Jérôme Bonieux, champion de kitesurf connu mondialement, et un des responsables du « Specialised Kiteboarding», situé au Preskil Island Resort a rappelé que la wing foil est un sport très jeune qui a vu le jour il y a quatre ans de cela. « C’est un sport qui mélange, kite, windsurf et surf » et qui surtout donne des sensations extraordinaires sans compter le spectacle saisissant du ballet des voiles multicolores.
L’activité consiste à surfer sur une planche équipée d’un foil, une aile profilée immergée dans l’eau, en tenant dans ses mains la wing, une aile gonflable. « On est entre la planche à voile et le kite surf ».
Ajoutez à cela le côté accessible, des sensations merveilleuses de liberté et de calme. La Wing, c’est une manière de pratiquer le foil sans du gros matos et en toute autonomie, pour un max de plaisir.

Wing Foil at the Preskil: an amazing show in the Mahébourg bay
The Mahébourg lagoon experienced one of the most amazing days of the year from 28 July to 3 August with a Wing Foil ballet that brought together some of the world’s greatest specialists in this new discipline. The initiative was once again taken by the Preskil Island Resort, whose commitment to sailing sports is well known.
At the launch event, the hotel’s director, Vincent Commarmond, stressed that “with the largest lagoon on the island and very favourable winds in winter, the Preskil can boast of having the most beautiful spot for sailing sports”.
“The pandemic has made us realise, among other things, the importance of sport in life. It also gave us the opportunity to see that Mauritius has an extraordinary sea for water sports,” he added.
For his part, Jérôme Bonieux, a world-renowned kiteboarding champion and one of the managers of the Specialised Kiteboarding, located at the Preskil Island Resort, recalled that wing foiling is a very young sport that came into being four years ago. « It is a sport that mixes kite, windsurf and surf » and above all gives extraordinary sensations, not to mention the striking spectacle of the ballet of multicoloured sails.
The activity consists of surfing on a board equipped with a foil, a profiled wing immersed in the water, while holding in one’s hands the wing, an inflatable wing. “It’s somewhere between windsurfing and kite surfing”.
Add to that the accessibility, the wonderful feeling of freedom and calm. The Wing is a way to practice foiling without big equipment and in complete autonomy, for a maximum of pleasure.
