L’édition 2025 du Salon International du Tourisme de Madagascar (ITM) a débuté en grande pompe ce jeudi, sous le signe de la biodiversité et du tourisme durable. La cérémonie d’ouverture, présidée par le Chef de l’État malgache, Andry Rajoelina, a mis à l’honneur les richesses culturelles et naturelles de la région.
Moment fort de cette première journée : la reconduction de l’île Maurice à la tête de l’Association des Îles Vanille, représentée par le ministre adjoint du Tourisme, l’Hon. Sydney Pierre. L’île Maurice assurera la présidence jusqu’en décembre 2025, avant de passer le relais à l’Union des Comores en janvier 2026.
L’Association des Îles Vanille, qui rassemble les Comores, Madagascar, les Maldives, Maurice, Mayotte, La Réunion et les Seychelles, a annoncé plusieurs initiatives ambitieuses pour renforcer l’attractivité touristique de l’océan Indien :
- Le lancement de la Vanilla Islands Card, un outil stratégique pour dynamiser les voyages inter-îles ;
- Une tournée promotionnelle régionale en septembre, en marge du salon IFTM Top Resa à Paris ;
- Un stand commun des Îles Vanille à l’ITB Berlin 2026 ;
- Un temps fort autour des Îles Vanille lors du Festival Kreol à Maurice ;
- Et un forum économique entre Madagascar et Maurice, pour renforcer la coopération bilatérale dans le tourisme et le commerce.
L’édition 2025 de l’ITM confirme le rôle moteur de l’Association des Îles Vanille dans le développement d’un tourisme régional, solidaire et durable, tout en valorisant l’identité culturelle unique de l’océan Indien.
Mauritius Confirmed as Chair of the Vanilla Islands Association Until December 2025
The International Tourism Fair of Madagascar (ITM) kicked off its 11th edition with a vibrant celebration of island diversity and cooperation. Opened by the President of the Republic of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, the ceremony set the tone for a fair centered on biodiversity protection and sustainable tourism.
A major highlight of the first day was the reappointment of Mauritius as Chair of the Vanilla Islands Association, with the Hon. Sydney Pierre, Deputy Minister of Tourism, reaffirming the country’s commitment to regional leadership. Mauritius will hold the presidency until December 2025, after which the Union of the Comoros will take over in January 2026.
The Vanilla Islands Association, which brings together Comoros, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mayotte, Réunion and Seychelles, took center stage with the announcement of several ambitious initiatives aimed at strengthening the Indian Ocean’s tourism sector.
Among the headline announcements:
- The launch of the Vanilla Islands Card, a new tool to facilitate travel and increase regional appeal;
- A joint roadshow in September alongside the IFTM Top Resa trade fair in Paris;
- A collective Vanilla Islands pavilion at ITB Berlin 2026;
- A dedicated Vanilla Islands session during the Kreol Festival in Mauritius;
- And an upcoming economic forum between Madagascar and Mauritius to explore deeper tourism and trade synergies.
The renewed momentum within the association signals a shared ambition: to promote one of the world’s most breathtaking and culturally rich regions through unified, sustainable development strategies.
As ITM 2025 continues, the Vanilla Islands reaffirm their commitment to acting as a model of regional cooperation and eco-conscious tourism.
