Il était récemment au Preskil Island Resort, et en a profité pour animer des spectacles et à dispenser des formations pour les enfants de la région de Riche-en-Eau. Entre deux acrobaties, il a pris le temps de se présenter et de faire découvrir cette passion qui l’anime.
Champion du Monde
Après plus de 10 ans de football traditionnel en club, l’inspiration pour le freestyle lui vient en 2010 grâce à des vidéos de freestylers professionnels sur YouTube. Aujourd’hui double champion de France de freestyle football en solo en 2018 et 2019, champion du Monde par équipe en 2023 avec son équipe Unisphère, Jordan est devenu au fil des années une référence dans le domaine. Pour lui, le football freestyle est bien plus qu’un simple sport, c’est un art qui permet de jongler avec le ballon de manière créative et artistique. « Le but est de combiner des figures techniques, de trouver ses propres mouvements pour créer un style unique avec le ballon. C’est un mélange de football, de danse et d’acrobatie qui donne une multitude de possibilités pour s’exprimer », révèle le professionnel.
Bien que le football freestyle existe depuis le début des années 2000, il reste relativement méconnu du grand public, malgré son côté visuel et spectaculaire. Cependant, Jordan Meunier s’efforce de partager sa passion avec le monde. Il estime que la clé du succès en freestyle réside dans la rigueur et la patience, tout en nous confiant qu’il s’entraîne environ trois heures par jour. Dans un esprit de partage, Jordan s’assure de faire découvrir ce sport et de transmettre ses connaissances en offrant des initiations après ses performances. Une anecdote amusante qu’il n’hésite pas à partager, c’est que le champion de France 2023 de freestyle football a lui-même commencé sa carrière en suivant ses vidéos et tutoriels sur les réseaux sociaux.
Arpentant d’habitude les quatre coins du globe pour vivre de sa passion, Jordan Meunier décrit son séjour au Preskil Island Resort comme une expérience unique. « Le cadre est paradisiaque, le personnel est adorable, j’ai partagé des moments uniques en famille avec mon enfant et ma femme que j’ai demandée en mariage ici. J’ai eu l’opportunité d’échanger et de jouer avec des jeunes talents mauriciens du village de Riche-en-Eau et Saint-Hubert. C’est un voyage parfait où j’ai pu allier l’utile et l’agréable. Merci à Preskil Island Resort pour la confiance accordée et ce séjour inoubliable », explique-t-il. En effet, outre les moments de détente, Jordan anime également des spectacles freestyle et des formations pour les jeunes dans les bureaux du Southern Cross Hotels. L’occasion pour les jeunes de la région de Riche-en-Eau d’apprendre plus sur ce sport et de s’inspirer du parcours de la star.
Du côté du Preskil Island Resort, l’établissement travaille régulièrement avec des influenceurs locaux ou internationaux afin de faire un impact sur la société. Jordan Meunier a, lui aussi, été accueilli à bras ouverts, et en échange de son séjour, il fait généreusement découvrir l’hôtel et l’île Maurice sur ses réseaux sociaux. Pour l’équipe, cela a été un moment de pur bonheur de voir les jeunes s’en mettre plein les yeux en assistant aux démonstrations de Jordan. De plus, ce dernier a également offert un spectacle de freestyle au Medley Bar de l’hôtel, un moment chaleureusement apprécié par les clients.

However, Jordan Meunier is keen to share his passion with the world. He believes that the key to success in freestyle is rigour and patience, and confides that he trains for around three hours a day. In a spirit of sharing, Jordan makes sure that people discover the sport and pass on his knowledge by offering initiations after his performances. An amusing anecdote that he does not hesitate to share is that the 2023 French freestyle football champion himself started his career by following his videos and tutorials on social networks.
Usually travelling to the four corners of the globe to make a living from his passion, Jordan Meunier describes his stay at the Preskil Island Resort as a unique experience. « The setting is heavenly, the staff are adorable, and I shared unique moments with my family, my child and my wife, to whom I proposed here. I had the opportunity to share and play with young Mauritian talent from the villages of Riche-en-Eau and Saint-Hubert. It was a perfect trip where I was able to combine business with pleasure. As well as relaxing, Jordan also runs freestyle shows and training sessions for young people in the offices of Southern Cross Hotels. This is an opportunity for young people in the Riche-en-Eau region to learn more about the sport and be inspired by the star’s career.

Jordan Meunier was also welcomed with open arms, and in exchange for his stay, he generously shares information about the hotel and Mauritius on his social networks. For the team, it was a moment of pure delight to see the youngsters feast their eyes on Jordan’s demonstrations.
