Enjoy Italian gastronomy every Friday at Heritage Awali’s Kuzini
Undoubtedly one of the best all-inclusive offers in Mauritius, with no fewer than six restaurants in the hotel, not to mention access to the other restaurants on the estate, Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort has just added a new offering to its Italian restaurant, Kuzini. Every Friday since the beginning of August, the restaurant offers a carefully prepared gourmet menu accompanied by Italian wines chosen by the hotel’s sommelier, all to live music.
Jazz & Gusto is the new attraction at Heritage Awali. The Kuzini has been redesigned and refurbished to accommodate the new concept, explains Jean-Paul Begue, Executive Assistant Manager. « We wanted to add a new touch to this restaurant by including a gastronomic menu that honours Fontezoppa’s Italian cuisine and wines. Chef Deo (Jugurnauth) and his team have teamed up with the hotel’s sommelier, Rohit Mungla, to create a food and wine menu worthy of a top restaurant. The restaurant has also changed to make it even more attractive.
At the entrance to Kuzini, you are greeted by a jazz band that will liven up the evening with sounds that are sometimes melancholy and sometimes more upbeat. To the right, the open kitchen adds a spectacular and lively touch, heralding an evening full of promise. The menu does not disappoint. For starters, oxtail ravioli confit in a red pepper broth flavoured with lemongrass accompanied by an Incrocio Bruni 54 IGT, Marche, 2021, followed by a Risotto with roasted shellfish and lobster, shellfish jus (IGT San Marone Pinot Nero, Marche, 2019). The main course, Entrecote a la plancha with truffle potatoes, garden vegetables and Périgueux sauce, is served with a Serrapetrona Pepato BIO, 2020.
Then comes another show, a selection of cheeses matured by Hervé Mons « Meilleur Ouvrier de France 2002 » MOF 2002 and served with a Vardo Riserva Maceratesi, 2019. And do not overdo it, because there’s one more dessert to round off the feast: a Pistachio Tiramisu, accompanied by a Passito Cascia, 2015. Well done to Chef Deo and his team, and Rohit for the excellent choice of wines.
